Lament of a student
Can anyone comprehend,
The mystery of a student's fear,
And lend a helping hand,
A sympathetic ear ?
SOS,
We send our distress signal,
Through our tires stoop and weary looks,
We are drowning,
In a sea of books.
Exams,
Our greatest fear,
Always seem,
To be so near.
Friends,
Can we withstand,
The deceit,
The hypocrisy,
The betrayal,
The conspiracy ?
School,
Didn't come with a manual,
Instructions or tools,
How do we handle, the colossal,
Deluge of rules ?
Hormones,
Running wild in all directions,
Out of control,
How do we keep emotions,
Bottled in our soul ?
Pinned,
Under a crushing weight,
Smothered, with no escape,
Left and right, we suffocate,
How can we no retaliate ?
Apparently,
We are free,
From shackles of poverty,
No need to worry,
About raising, a family.
But,
How do we quell,
The raging storm,
That besets the swell,
Of our weakly form ?
We are filled to the brim,
Bursting at the seams,
It's a miracle we don't faint,
Under the stress and strain.
Pause,
That's what we need,
To seek solace,
From the rat race,
From the frenzied pace.
Smile,
It's a start,
Smile,
From your heart.
Live,
Really live,
It's no crime,
To live,
One day at a time.
Love,
All that we do,
Love,
Your enemies too.
Humour,
To keep us gay,
To see us through,
The bleakest day.
Freedom and peace,
Is what we yearn for,
Once achieved,
We'll lament no more.
