Teachers' View-Points on Mathematics
The HSC results for Principal Mathematics have been satisfactory over the last few years. We have always managed to achieve above 77 % of principal passes. For example, we had 77.9 % passes in 1978, 79.4 % in 1979 and 87.1 % in 1980.
For the Pure and Applied Maths students there has been marginal improvement in their performance in the way of a spectacular increase in the percentage of passes achieved.
Examination results depend very much on the batch of students, that is the quality of the students themselves, Mathematics is a subject which requires a lot of practice. In order to do well, the students should be self-motivated and must be consistent in their work.
