Malacca students win contest

Malacca, Wed. - A joint effort by Melaka High School students Nai Lee and Raymond Chai Huat won the first prize in the Secondary Schools Science Fiction Story-Writing competition, it was announced today.

The second prize, went to Mohamed Khairul, Mohamed Zuraizi and Zulkifli Isa of Sekolah Menengah Agama Sheikh Abdul Malek, Kuala Trengganu.

Eunice Yeo, Celina Yong and May Liu of St. Mary's Secondary School, Kuching took third place.

Competition committee chairman Dr. Koh Aik Khoon said there was better response this time around with each State sending at least one entry.

The students were also more aware of the importance of science and technology compared to five years ago, he told a news conference.

The competition was co-organised by the Education and Science, Technology and Environment Ministry and the Scientists Association of Malaysia.
