A stand for Mr. Aloysius S.
O:
Since when did you start working in Malacca High School ?
A:
I started working in Malacca High School in 1953.
O:
Is this your first job ?
A:
No. This is in fact my second job. My first job was with the Municipal Council. It was a temporary job and I was filling in somebody's place. When there was a vacancy in MHS, I started working here instead.
O:
How do you find your job ?
A:
It is quite a nice job. It is not too tough and not too busy. I am mostly busy during the science practical examinations. Then I will have to prepare the various equipments and also clean them thoroughly.
O:
All throughout the years, was there any unpleasant incidents that happened with the students while working on an experiment ?
A:
As far as I can remember, there were no such incidents whatsoever with the exception of the common breaking of glass equipments due to carelessness.
O:
Do any of the teachers find any problem with the way you manage the laboratory ?
A:
No. As I know the laboratory inside out, I know what the teachers need and uses of the various equipments etcetera. In fact, we are all on friendly terms.
O:
What changes have there been to the school since the very first time you started working until today ?
A:
Oh ! There has been quite a number of changes to the school especially during Mr. Rajan's time. The present General Library was formerly used as a hall. It was converted into a library. Also, during those earlier days, the roads were all red earth roads. With the help of the JKR, we managed to tar the roads.
The windows in the main building were also modified. They were initially door-like windows.
The Physics Laboratory One was formerly a canteen. In fact, the tables being used now are all canteen tables. The canteen was shifted to the present 'cooperative' premises about 4 to 5 years ago.
One of the two Physics Laboratory was formerly a General Science Laboratory. The present Chemistry Laboratory was two laboratories combined into one. One was a Biology Laboratory and the tables have been changed from wood tables to mica tables.
