Scouting in MHS
Forty-two years have elapsed and the 1st. and 4th. Fort Scout Group of MHS still maintains a high standard. Besides acquiring the basic scouting knowledge, the 1st. and 4th. Fort Scouts have ample leadership and organising training, thus moulding them into self-reliant, independent and well-rounded leaders of tomorrow.
As part of their training programme, the Juniors camped at Pengkalan Balak. They also participated in inter-patrol competitions. The seniors on the other hand, besides visited the Sekolah Menengah Sains in Ayer Keroh and organized a Folk Nite jointly with the 6th. Company Guilders of CHIJ, also made a trip to MARDI.
The 1st. Forts scouts also tested their green-fingers by maintaining a vegetable garden, which is a regular supplier of fresh leafy greens. In a competition organized by the Ministry of Education, the 1st. Fort Scout Group emerged champions in the 'Tapak Tanaman' and the Fruit Sections.
Thirteen assistant scout leaders and rovers of MHS attended a leadership course - "Kursus Penyelarasan Raya Pimpinan Kebangsaan" held at Sekolah Menengah Air Leleh from the 1st. to the 3rd. October, 1976.
They also attended the Indonesian Jamboree in Medan Sumatra. Three Agung Scouts completed the 24 hour service and standardization.
