Malacca High hosts students from Kagoshima Immaculate Hearts College, Japan. So far we have delegations from Indonesia, Thailand, and other ASEAN countries. And then, Japanese were in town. 10 lovely girls from Kagoshima Immaculate Hearts College accompanied by Moritake sensei and Teruko sensei arrived at Malacca High School at noon from St. Francis Institution where they were studying for a three month stint. To greet them were Encik Hishamuddin b. Husin and the Senior Assistant of Students Affair, Encik Abdul Halim. As a sign of cultural tolerance, the two gentlemen bowed in a Japanese fashion to each other before shaking hands in a lighter hearted manner. Later, the entourage was escorted to the comfy of guest room and joining them were the SFI Japanese Club teachers, two pressmen, and students from 1 Blue and 1 Brown.

The moment our guests entered the meeting room, they were greeted by a hearty konnichiwa from the Form 1 students. The emcee was the school counsellor, Puan Salmah and the Encik Hishamuddin. A power-point presentation kicked off as a showcase on the school history over the years. The welcoming speech was given by Encik Halim. Mishima sensei later gave his speech and humoured the students on how he underestimated the cili padi by taking one whole while dining and was impressed by the wide variety of fruits he found in Malaysia.

For the cultural exchange part of the event, our students presented a Japanese song and the lovely Japanese girls sang their school song followed by two other songs. They later toured the library. ....
