Malacca High School's Hostel

Malacca High School's hostel was built in 1924 when the principal was Mr. C.G. Coleman. The hostel could only accomodate 60 pupils. In 1972, the Ministry of Education introduced the selection of Special Programme Students, for those who did well in the Standard Five Evaluation examinations. There were 80 of them.

In 1975, the old hostel was demolished to make way for the construction of a School Hall. A new hostel was built behind the school and was named Special Programme Hostel. At that time, there were 118 residents. Another building with a school logo on it was built in 1983, when the school enrolment reached 300. The hostel has a 'surau', eating hall, rest room, treatment room, air-conditioned library, computer room, television room, and also decorated with a waterfall and a fish pond.

The hostel was dubbed Malacca High School's Asmara Putera in 1985 and later Asrama Tan Sri Datuk Wira Abdul Rahman, after the Director of Education of Malaysia who was a former border from 1948 to 1965.
