Tan Siew Sin's Message to High School
I am very happy and honoured to be asked to give this message for publication in the souvenir magazine to be issued on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the Malacca High School. I am one of those who have been fortunate enough to have been a student of this School and no one who has ever studied there can ever forget it. Its hallowed traditions have guided many of us in our later lives and one cannot help but look back on our days there with feelings of reverence and affection.
Even the building which originally housed the School is unique and I sincerely hope that it will never be pulled down as it is an unforgettable part of Malacca's historic landscape.
Not many schools in this country have existed for 150 years. Those of us who belong to the Malacca High School can therefore look back with nostalgic pride on an institution which has contributed in no small measure to the progress and prospertity of this country.
On this memorable and historic occasion, let us pray that this School will continue to make a worthy contribution to the history of this country for many more years to come.
