Helping the North Koreans
August 1997
Millions of North Koreans face the threat
of malnutrition and starvation. 800,000 of them are children aged five and
below. Already, many people have succumbed to the famine and many more suffer
with famine-related diseases and severe malnutrition. If food does not reach
them when winter comes in October, many people will die with the children dying
first. Currently, they are surviving only on rations, which is as low as five
teaspoons of rice per person.
In response to this tragedy, caring souls
of Malacca High School have not remained silent when the plight of the North
Koreans ring their ears. Two societies, the Economics Club and the Red Crescent
Society of Malacca High has embarked on a fund-raising mission on noble cause –
to help the North Koreans live to see the light of another day.
The Economics Club and the Red Crescent
Society have raised up to RM2515.00, a result of the generous outpouring from
students and teachers. The amount may not seem substantial but according to
statistics, the amount is enough to feed 748 North Koreans for a week.

Quotes
Time is really the only capital that any
human being has, and the one thing that he can’t afford to lose.
~ Thomas Alva Edison
An intelligent plan is the first step to
success. The man who plans knows where he is going, knows what progress he is
making and has a pretty good idea when he will arrive. Planning is the open
road to your destination. If you don’t know where you are going, how can you
expect to get there ?
