THE SCHOOL DISCIPLINE - BLAME THE STUDENTS ?
THE school discipline has been a never ending issue. There has been many debates upon this matter and many a time, students have to bear the blame. When students deny that that it is their fault, they are seen as rebellious and proud. Teachers say students do not understand their problems. That may be true. But there is always the other side of the story.
I wish to express my opinion in this paper, not so much to criticize the school authorities because I'm a person who is subjected to the powers-that-be, but rather to be an 'eye-opener' to teachers and students alike. I hope my criticism is constructive and 'the wounds of a friend is better than the kiss of an enemy'.
The students, of course, have to bear part, I repeat, part, of the blame. The best discipline is self discipline. It is true that many students have a lack of self control. Sometimes, students, do things according to impulse, and are not rational in their actions. The question we should ask is not 'must we or must we not blame them ?' but rather 'Do we have compassion to help them in their predicament ?'
