WHAT NATIONAL DAY MEANS TO ME

The national flag
Waving exuberantly admist the crowd


When suddenly .. the cry for independence shot out
Merdeka ! Merdeka ! Merdeka !
People rose to their feet
A surge of patriotism and prides swelling inside them.


A cacophony of noises filled the air
and even more so when the band came marching by
The tuneful symphony drifted away like clouds
Their bright, furid outset which seemed to sparkle now and then
Attracted more people to gawk and peer and exclaim "Wow"


The since was a picture of grandeur and majesty
In celebrating their national day with joy and glee
Thus, honouring their late Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman
Who struggled with perserverance to fight for independence


Five decades have passed
Pursuing towards the peak of modernisation
Now, people tend to take it for granted
To them work is more important for survival
Without realising, patriotic spirit will slowly fade
Gradually with the passing of time


Bear in mind, citizen out there
Remember the hardship that our leaders faced
Wake up all Malaysians
Before you realise it's too late
