VARIETY

Yatim, a teacher in Malacca High School, visited his old friend, Hong TS, in London.

At dinner that evening, Yatim was intrigued by the menu: soup, fish, hore d'ceuvres, meat, sweets, cheese, biscuits and coffee. Then there were the drinks ... white wine with the fish, red with the meat.

And the cheese ?

Cheddar, Edan, Stilton, Danish Blue, Chesire, Brie, Roquefort ...

Said Yatim: "This is bewildering. Can't we settle for roast lamb and be done with it ?"

Said Hong TS: "Ah ! But variety is the spice of life, old boy."

A few weeks later, it was Hong TS's turn to visit Yatim in Malaysia. At dinner that evening, Yatim's wives brought in the trays of food. Yatim introduced his wives to Hong TS. "This is my first wife, my second, .... my fourth."

Hong TS was staggered. "Isn't one more than enough ? he asked.

Said Yatim: "You don't know what you're missing, Variety, old boy. Variety."
